CSTB is a public research establishment in the construction sector, employing about 830 staff including 450 engineers, researchers and experts in building science and building technologies and advanced ICT. CSTB core business covers four main fields: research, technical consultancy, quality assessment, and knowledge dissemination. Following a multidiscipline approach, it contributes to innovation and problem solving for the industry, and to transfer knowledge and technology to the wider community, in France and beyond. ZAG Ljubljana is an independent, impartial and non-profit organization, which fulfils all the requirements of the EEC Council Directive No. 89/106 regarding approval bodies which carry out the testing and attestation of conformity of construction products. Its main activities include: certification and attestation of conformity of products, materials and executed works, fundamental and applied research in the fields of materials and structures, pre-competitive development of new materials, development of new methods of testing, tests, measurements and monitoring of structures, tests, measurements and monitoring of the external and internal building environment, research, measurements and monitoring in the field of the efficient use of energy and renewables, engineering tests and analyses, revisions of building, civil engineering and technological designs, and of designs for transport devices, calibration and verification of measures, standards and reference materials, control, calibration and attestation of conformity of measuring devices, apparatus, testing machines and individual elements of industrial systems, training of research and technical staff in particular technical fields, participation in the preparation of technical codes and standards.

The Technical and Test Institute for Constructin Prague (TZUS Praha, s.p.), state enterprise, continued on its previous long-years´ cooperation with the certification bodies from Germany (LGA Nürnberg), Slovakia (TSUS Bratislava) and Hungary (EMI Budapest) and, along with them, established the base for the creation of the association called the European Cooperation for Information/International Certification Engineers - ECI ICE, which, on the basis of analyses of requirements in respect to the individual groups of products, ensures the issuance of national certificates on the grounds of the mutual acknowledgement of results of tests, supervisions and plans for collection of samples.

The Belgian Building Research Institute is a private research institute founded in 1960 under impulse of the National Federation of Belgian Building Contractors in application of the so-called "De Groote" decreelaw of 1947. Specifically, this decree-law named after the former Minister of Economic Affairs aimed at promoting applied research in industry order to improve its competitiveness. In application of this law the statutory contributing members of BBRI are the more than 65 000 Belgian construction companies (general contractors, carpenters, glaziers, plumbers, roofers, floorers, plasterers, painters, etc..) most of which are SMEs.

The overall objective of E2B Association (E2BA) is to deliver, implement and optimise building and cluster concepts that have the technical, economic and societal potential to drastically decrease the energy consumption and reduce CO2 emissions due to existing and new buildings at the overall scale of the European Union. The E2BA aims at speeding up research on key technologies thus developing a competitive industry in the fields of energy efficient construction processes, products and services, with the main purpose of reaching the goals set forth for 2020 and 2050 to address climate change issues and contribute to improve EU energy independence thereby transforming these challenges into a business opportunity". Created in 2008, E2BA currently groups more than 160 members across Europe, including SMEs and Large companies, Research Centres, Universities and end users as regional agencies.
